THE ORIGIN OF THE MOMENTS
Every 1/1 Optic Creation on iooggi.com is the continuation of a 60-year journey by g' /. This platform is not for the masses. It is an archive of real, historic moments.
The New York Crucible (1950s)
The spark started in the mid-1950s with the energy of the Rockaway "Fireworks." From there, it moved to the Greenwich Village outdoor art exhibits. Seeing those paintings out on the streets of Washington Square Park deeply impressed a young boy—g' /—and drew him into the movement. That street-level energy became the blueprint for what followed.
The Picasso Flashpoint (1968)
While living at 88 Bleecker Street in 1968, a magical moment occurred. It happened by an unknown force. While waiting for daily placement work at the office on the corner of Bleecker & Broadway—doing all sorts of shape-up jobs, but mainly shipping and receiving in East New York, Brooklyn—g' / was right there on-site as the foundation, stones, and concrete were being poured directly into the molds to form the monumental Bust of Sylvette masterpiece. During these morning gatherings, Pablo Picasso studied his presence and posture from the base of the sculpture site, while he silently studied P P from across the plaza. At the time, g' / did not even know who Picasso was; it was a truly serendipitous intersection of spirit that eventually brought him to Europe. Yet, he was still not an artist in his own right; unbeknownst to g' /, he possessed hidden art values that were beginning to surface, overshadowing his previous athletic achievements.
The Spanish Era (1972–1976)
By 1972, after arriving in Europe, g' / found himself witnessing the Palio race in Siena, afterwards running the Bulls twice in Pamplona and then off to Barcelona, eventually landing a job in Sitges. It wasn't until 1975 did g' / start serious photo work, purely by accident, doing a Pacha British bartender a favor, since he was given a Minolta camera by a friend on Madison Ave who was a VP for a major corporate advertising company. Balancing two different worlds, he shot professional fashion portfolios for models while also capturing abstract photography using that manual film camera B & W. During this time, the foundations for the "Firework Creations" came together, heavily inspired by an invitation into the orbit of Salvador Dalí. There is so much more to this story; one must get to know and appreciate this quiet kinetic artist. The subtleties seem to reveal an inner energy—one only imagines in the Abstract.
The Autonomous Platform
Today, iooggi.com and the Official Green Seal represent the culmination of this 17-year project. The grit of Greenwich Village, the serendipitous encounter with Picasso at the pouring of the Bust of Sylvette, and the sharp analog contrast of 1970s Spain are now on modern rails.
What is Value? Is it determined entirely by market trends and fast-moving offers? Or is it found within the scarcity, the lineage, and the historic weight of the work of g' /?
